A long-term reduction in emissions for our CO2 neutrality
Especially in an industry where metal is produced or processed, the topic of sustainable management is relevant due to the generally high energy consumption. How this is reflected in strategic decisions and everyday actions is shown by our developments. Over the past few years, we have already set a lot in motion to effectively save greenhouse gases.
We are doing our part to ensure that future generations will also have a future worth living.

Greenhouse gas balancing
With the ecocockpit, the Effizienz-Agentur NRW offers a variety of options for greenhouse gas balancing and reduction. The offer consists of the balancing calculator, training courses and lectures as well as the free initial consultation on site for companies in NRW.
We use ecocockpit to determine our carbon footprint and to create the carbon footprint of FACO Metalltechnik and our products. We use it to identify the CO2 drivers in our company in an uncomplicated and practical way and thus derive measures for reduction.
In 2021, we were able to completely record our CO2 emissions for the first time thanks to a successful and efficient consultation with Mr. Matthias Graf, Effizienz-Agentur NRW. We were able to complete the subsequent balancing this year and received the certificate for our CO2 emissions.

Project BAFA energy audit
Climate friendly company
Energy efficiency has long been a very high priority for us. Having already successfully participated in our first environmental project in 2016, we wanted to continue our efforts on the way to becoming a climate-friendly company in the long term. In order to further deepen this topic, we started with a BAFA-funded energy audit according to DIN EN 16247 in November 2022.
As part of the kick-off event, possible energy efficiency potentials such as a door curtain system at the hall door as well as proposed solutions for a modern heating system were highlighted by the energy consultant, CF-Enterprises GmbH, in an on-site appointment at the Ennepetal site.
Topics known to us, such as the optimization of lighting technology, the use of air-conditioning split units and the sensitization of our employees were also taken up and evaluated on the basis of various criteria. We also found out that we see further potential in the area of digitalization to increase our energy efficiency permanently.
We will report on this!
ECOPROFIT project
First environmental project
In 2016, we successfully participated in the municipal ECOPROFIT project. We wanted to consolidate and expand our knowledge of environmental topics and see if there were further levers to be tightened. Operational environmental management and sustainable business management, as well as on-site consulting and the exchange with other participants were the focus.
The certificate for a successful project participation was presented by Mr. Olaf Schade, District Administrator of the Ennepe-Ruhr district.

Outlook for the future
Ruhr Makerthon - Innovation for future
At FACO Metalltechnik, we will continue to look for solutions to further reduce our Co² emissions in the future. In doing so, we are once again drawing on innovative ideas from bright minds, developers and startups as part of the "Ruhr-Makerthon - Innovation for future" event.
Our challenge this year: the optimization of transport packaging and transport routes with regard to the most sustainable and environmentally friendly use of resources.
Through this collaboration, we hope to find solutions that we can implement in our operations and that offer us direct added value.

Conversion of the vehicle fleet to electric as well as hybrid vehicles
FACO electrifies
In order to reduce CO2 emissions from customer visits by our sales staff as much as possible, we have converted our entire vehicle fleet to electric and hybrid vehicles. By using the purely electric drive, we can avoid unnecessary emissions in the near vicinity as far as possible.
In addition, we purchase green electricity from renewable sources, which we can use to charge our vehicles at our own wall boxes.
Electronic invoice dispatch
The switch to electronic dispatch of outgoing invoices became an issue for us at an early stage, as a great deal of time and cost can be saved here with little effort. And the advantages are obvious. Costs for paper, ink, postage and envelopes are eliminated. In addition, the working time for enveloping and the trip to the post office are eliminated.
Logistics redefined
By changing our delivery logistics, we were able to significantly reduce loading and unloading times and the number of truck trips. In addition to reduced emissions, this also has a positive impact on personnel deployment. In addition, we were able to achieve optimal space utilization and short distances for material supply by adapting the storage system.
Sustainable projects
The Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation is dedicated to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda (SDGs) while averting the worst consequences of the climate crisis.
We help invest in sustainable projects in developing and emerging countries, while improving our carbon footprint and contributing to better living conditions for people in countries of the global South.
